Calm & Gentle · Japandi Botanical

A small songbird rests on a bare branch while pink blossoms open around it in soft, quiet light.

A small songbird sits on a bare, knobby branch, its head turned to the left. Its cap is near black, its breast a soft blush pink, and its wings and long tail are shaded in charcoal gray with fine feather lines. Around it, clusters of pink cherry blossoms open with red centers, and a few buds stay closed.

This kind of bird-and-blossom scene has a long tradition in Japanese art, known as kacho-ga, which pairs a bird with flowers and branches. Here the idea is kept simple. The background is a pale cream wash with gray and rosy blotches, a few stray pink petals, and plenty of open space. The branches are thin and slightly uneven, which keeps the scene calm and natural.

The palette of cream, blush pink, charcoal and soft gray suits Japandi rooms, where quiet colors and bare surfaces do the work. Hang it above a low bench in an entryway, beside a bedroom window, over a reading chair, or in a dining nook with light wood furniture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Canvas, framed art print or art print — what's the difference?

Canvas is printed on textured cotton-polyester canvas and stretched over slim 0.79" (2 cm) wood bars — finished at the edges and ready to hang, with or without a floating frame. A framed art print is printed on premium matte paper and arrives in a pine wood frame behind shatterproof plexiglass, ready to hang. An art print is the unframed paper print, for when you'd like to choose your own frame. You'll find the exact details for your selection under Product Specifications.

How do I choose the right size?

Measure the wall space you want to fill. Above a sofa or bed, a piece about two-thirds of the furniture's width usually looks balanced. For smaller walls, nooks or gallery walls, smaller sizes work well. Our Size Guide shows every size in a room setting for comparison.

Does it arrive ready to hang?

Yes. Canvas and framed art prints arrive ready to hang with the hanging hardware included; framed canvas and framed art prints come with a pre-installed sawtooth hanger. Art prints are shipped unframed.

When will my order arrive?

Every piece is printed to order in the USA. Your estimated delivery date is shown right below the Add to Cart button and already accounts for production and shipping. Shipping is free on all US orders.

What if my order arrives damaged or misprinted?

Just email us at info@maisoncanvas.com within 60 days of delivery with a photo of the issue, and we'll send a free replacement or a refund. Because every piece is made to order, we can't accept returns for a change of mind or an incorrect size selection. Full details are in our Refund Policy.

Will the colors look the same as on my screen?

We work hard to show every piece as accurately as possible. Screens differ in brightness and color settings, so the printed colors can look very slightly different from what you see on your device.

How do I care for my artwork?

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid moisture, cleaning sprays and long periods of direct sunlight to keep the colors at their best.
