A quiet table of ripe fruit, one cut open to show its seeded center, set against a wall of dark and red.
Two plum-purple fruits sit beside a halved fig, and the fig's seeded center glows in a ring of crimson and cream. That open fig is the part your eye returns to. Green leaves tuck in behind the fruit, and a few dark red slices rest on the ledge in front.
The still life tradition of showing fruit on a table is centuries old, and this piece follows it with a modern, rough-edged look. The background is made of dark brown, black and deep red streaks that run downward in uneven strokes. Thin pale drips hang from the edge of the cream ledge, and small bright highlights catch on the plum skins. The surface looks scraped and layered, with soft edges in some places and sharp ones in others.
The burgundy, plum and espresso tones suit a library, a dining room, a study or a quiet corner of the bedroom. It pairs well with dark wood, leather chairs, brass lamps and shelves of old books. How do I choose the right size?
Measure the wall space you want to fill. Above a sofa or bed, a piece about two-thirds of the furniture's width usually looks balanced. For smaller walls, nooks or gallery walls, smaller sizes work well. Our Size Guide shows every size in a room setting for comparison.
Does it arrive ready to hang?
Yes. Canvas and framed art prints arrive ready to hang with the hanging hardware included; framed canvas and framed art prints come with a pre-installed sawtooth hanger. Art prints are shipped unframed.
