Quiet & Contemplative · Dark Academia Watercolor

A tall bird stands still in front of an old stone doorway, as if it has stood watch there for years.

Soft gray, warm cream, faded blush and slate blue make up the palette of this heron scene. The tones are quiet and muted, and they sit well together. A tall gray heron stands in profile with a long orange beak and a black stripe sweeping back from its eye. Behind it rises a ruined stone arch, its bricks in sandy tan and dusty rose.

The lower edge looks wet and loose. Ink-blue and charcoal washes pool near the heron's feet, with fine splatters and thin drips running downward. At the left, pale green foliage and a small cluster of pink blooms soften the stone. The upper background fades into a pale, creamy wash, so the heron and the archway stay the focus.

The gray, cream and dusty pink tie together easily with a charcoal sofa, dark wood shelves, a green velvet chair or a wall of books. It suits a library, study, reading nook, entryway or bedroom, and it pairs well with moody botanical or architectural pieces in similar muted tones.

Frequently Asked Questions

Canvas, framed art print or art print — what's the difference?

Canvas is printed on textured cotton-polyester canvas and stretched over slim 0.79" (2 cm) wood bars — finished at the edges and ready to hang, with or without a floating frame. A framed art print is printed on premium matte paper and arrives in a pine wood frame behind shatterproof plexiglass, ready to hang. An art print is the unframed paper print, for when you'd like to choose your own frame. You'll find the exact details for your selection under Product Specifications.

How do I choose the right size?

Measure the wall space you want to fill. Above a sofa or bed, a piece about two-thirds of the furniture's width usually looks balanced. For smaller walls, nooks or gallery walls, smaller sizes work well. Our Size Guide shows every size in a room setting for comparison.

Does it arrive ready to hang?

Yes. Canvas and framed art prints arrive ready to hang with the hanging hardware included; framed canvas and framed art prints come with a pre-installed sawtooth hanger. Art prints are shipped unframed.

When will my order arrive?

Every piece is printed to order in the USA. Your estimated delivery date is shown right below the Add to Cart button and already accounts for production and shipping. Shipping is free on all US orders.

What if my order arrives damaged or misprinted?

Just email us at info@maisoncanvas.com within 60 days of delivery with a photo of the issue, and we'll send a free replacement or a refund. Because every piece is made to order, we can't accept returns for a change of mind or an incorrect size selection. Full details are in our Refund Policy.

Will the colors look the same as on my screen?

We work hard to show every piece as accurately as possible. Screens differ in brightness and color settings, so the printed colors can look very slightly different from what you see on your device.

How do I care for my artwork?

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid moisture, cleaning sprays and long periods of direct sunlight to keep the colors at their best.
